Consultation and Customized Training

Building Community Partnerships.

Whether you’re a doula agency, a birth center or a community organization working with pregnant, adopting, or new families, we want to get to know you!

The doula model of care provides the support that families need to thrive.  But finding the right training path that defines scope of practice, emphasizes collaboration, provides accurate and up-to-date information and is comprehensive, not just a weekend crash course?  We've built our training on direct experience serving the community with a model that has been respected among health & mental health professionals and appreciated by families for decades. We would love to partner with you for training, supporting your teams, providing Relationship-Centered Care initiatives, or building your support programs.

Training, Case Reviews, and Support for Your Team

If you’re interested in providing in-house training on preventing burnout, reducing compassion fatigue, providing trauma-informed care, working with diverse families, or expert advice on evidence-based lactation practices, we would love to work with you!

Are doulas in your group using the evidence to support lactation? Do you have the resources to offer supervision or guidance with a Board Certified Lactation Consultant when they are supporting breastfeeding/chestfeeding?

Have you defined and refined your scope of practice to avoid medical advice-giving or other unsafe practices?

What are you offering your team to be sure that there is a safe and neutral sounding board for challenging situations?

How are you actively preventing burnout and meeting the needs your providers have for addressing trauma exposures or the stress involved in working in difficult situations?

If you have doulas or lactation educators on your team, are they working in a vacuum?

Do they have a place to gain perspectives when presented with counseling challenges?

How are you training your team to address bias and to meet the diverse needs and parenting approaches without judgment?

Take a look at our support programs below.

Training Program

Trauma-Informed Training

(Healing-Informed Care) for Birthworkers

In this training, we’ll explore how to support clients who experienced a traumatic birth or perinatal event, while also supporting your own wellbeing as a helper encountering secondary or vicarious trauma. You’ll learn the three most common mistakes that could lead to further trauma for your clients. In the end, you’ll know how to be a true trauma steward for your clients while also mindfully caring for yourself.

Training Program

Doula Training

If you’re exploring starting a doula program, or establishing more consistent training standards, the training and ongoing mentorship available through WisdomWay Institute is unmatched. While many groups emphasize the business of caring for families, we focus on the skills involved with caring for families, including not only solid training in lactation support, postpartum health, newborn and infant development and wellbeing, and emotional health/mood disorders, but a training that is designed to prevent burnout, cultivate deep listening and establish a Relationship-Centered model of care.

Our programs are designed to earn the trust of families, referral partners, and community stakeholders who are looking for providers who have skills, knowledge, and a framework for delivering care that is safe, compassionate, equitable, and carefully organized around a scope of practice framework.

Ask about group discounts to train your team in mindfulness-based approaches to doula care, our Equity scholarships, or workshops or retreats that will inspire and support your community.

Let’s get connected!

When we get caught up in hope, happiness relies on a certain outcome. To be a heartful caregiver, we abandon that ‘goal’ oriented way of thinking and we train to be in full and fearless contact with what is actually happening, not what might be or what might be escaped. When we convey confidence, and compassion, we offer something more unconditional, more authentic, than hope. Hope can come and go, but this kind of caring, is boundless.
